Spoiler: they make your skin look flawless

What are Laura Mercier Pure Canvas Primers?

New from primer pioneer Laura Mercier (home of the industry OG Foundation Primer since 1995), the Laura Mercier Pure Canvas Primers promise to unlock the secret to flawless skin.

Combining high-performance makeup with efficacious skincare, Mercier calls the Pure Canvas Primers ‘skincare’s last step, and makeup’s first’. Each primer contains more than 85% skincare ingredients to moisturise, protect and smooth, while extending makeup wear by more than 12 hours.

Why use a primer?

Every makeup artist has a primer in their kit. The hype woman to your makeup main act, primers grip and fix for better blending and a longer-lasting finish. The best primers go further – solving your skincare needs too for a genuinely dewy, flawless, healthy-looking finish.

Primers are indispensable – they seal in skincare and protect the skin while preparing the face for makeup

What makes these primers so special?

Laura Mercier Pure Canvas Primers are available in three suits-all-skin-types formulations so you can choose the right one for you…

For ‘lit from within’ skin: Pure Canvas Primer Illuminating

  • Red clover flower extract controls oil and shine, and decreases appearance of pore size over time
  • 16 hours’ extended wear

The verdict: is it worth it?

I have been known to write primers off as a superfluous spend, instead focusing my time and money on tinted moisturisers and perfecting powders. More fool me – the Laura Mercier Pure Canvas Primers have blown me away.

Crease-free, with zero-pilling and real staying power (ideal if, like me, your makeup is usually on the move by mid-morning), the consistency of these primers is dreamy and even when worn alone, each jolted my exhausted, winter-ravaged skin back to life.

Pure Canvas Primer Blurring is your skin-perfecting, matt-canvas-maker – blurring fine lines and pores for smooth, soft-focus skin. Pure Canvas Primer Hydrating is light and refreshing – a cool glass of water for dry skin (mine looked – and felt – instantly ‘plumped’). Pure Canvas Primer Illuminating is yours for instant A-list glow. I love them all.

Fast, fuss-free face fixers, when you want to feel gorgeous now, Laura Mercier Pure Canvas Primers have exceeded all my expectations. They make your skin look flawless. Just don’t ask me to pick a favourite. ★★★★★
